There are at least 15 ways to introduce sensitive and/or difficult feedback.

 

(+)   TOP LAYER OF THE SANDWICH – START POSITIVE

“THANK YOU for calling me back…thank you for the time to answer my email or for being here …”  or
“I want you to know that I hear you, I believe you, I acknowledge you, I appreciate you, I value you, or I recognize your view… “

 

AND

(*) MIDDLE  LAYER OF THE SANDWICH – INSERT FEEDBACK

1. “I need to remind you of…”
2. “I apologize if I wasn’t clear about my request…”
3. “I recognize I have been stressed out lately and so it is possible that …”
4. “I admit that I have not communicated clearly, so here it is again…”
5. “Perhaps, I forgot to tell you specifically that this is extremely important…”
6. “I would encourage you to seriously think about this aspect…”
7. “I strongly recommend that you think or decide soon on this issue…”
8. “I observed that it appeared you were…”
9. “I am concerned that you…for we have spoken of this before…”
10. “For some reason, it seems that you are not remembering our agreement…”
11. “I am not sure, and I was wondering if you knew that…”
